The Last Bus

The Last Bus

A heart-warming tale of Tom (Timothy Spall), a pensioner whose wife, Mary (Phyllis Logan), has just passed away, who travels from Britain's most Northerly point, John O'Groats, to his original home town at its most Southerly point, Land's End, using his free bus pass.

He carries with him his wife's ashes in a small suitcase, travelling the length of the country to take her back home. Along the way, his adventures are recorded by the people he meets and helps, and by the end of his trip, he has unwittingly become a social media celebrity.

The Last Bus is released in September 2021.

Elaine Cassidy and Tom Meeten play a high-flying couple whose house is broken into by two teenagers.

Written and directed by Gareth Tunley, the thriller follows a wealthy couple, Rebecca and Sam, whose lives start to unravel after two teenagers break into their home. Sam stops one of the youths from leaving and attacks him with a knife, unintentionally killing him. Fearing that the police will conclude that the lethal force used was unjustifiable to the threat posed, Sam and Rebecca set about orchestrating an alternate version of events that paints themselves as the victims.

Intruder aired on Channel 5.

Clink

Clink

LA Productions' new drama Clink will air every Thursday at 9pm for 10 weeks from Thursday 18th April on 5STAR. Former Brookside and Emmerdale actress, Gillian Kearney, makes her directorial debut in the series, which is produced by Donna Molloy.

"It is fantastic to see how, in less than 10 months, Clink has transformed into a wonderful piece of television created by our talented team of actors, writers and directors," said Colin McKeown, Owner and Executive Producer at LA Productions.

"This was an exciting challenge for those involved, the quickest turnaround of any production that we have had the pleasure of working on. It showcases another string to our bow for producing excellent television."

As well as having a female cast, the show was predominantly produced by women, with 6 of the 7 writers and the majority of the directors being female. The cast includes Alicya Eyo, Christine Tremarco, Paul Broughton, Katherine Rose Morley, Lu Corfield and Trudie Goodwin.

"This is an unflinching drama filled with shocking moments inspired by real events in our prison system. The show will resonate with viewers who will come to sympathise with the characters portrayed on screen as they go on a spiritual journey from start to finish," explained Sarah Deane, Showrunner and Series Script Editor for LA Productions, who penned the series opener and finale for Clink.

LA Productions' Head of Development, Justine Potter, led the research process, spending days with former prisoners and guards to get an accurate representation of life in an all-female prison.

Congratulations to Molly Wright for Most Promising Newcomer and Best Supporting Actress Nomination. Apostasy has also received nominations for Best Debut Screenwriter, Debut Director and Breakthrough Producer.

Starring Siobhan Finneran, Robert Ems and Sacha Parkinson. Raised in the Jehovah Witness 'The Truth', sisters Alex and Luisa are devoted to each other and to their faith. Their mission is to convert the large Pakistani community of Oldham before Armageddon.

But when Luisa (played by Sacha Parkinson) is found guilty of fornication, Alex and her mother, Ivanna (played by Siobhan Finneran), are forced to ostracise her as punishment for her sin.

As the story develops, it becomes clear that it is Ivanna who must restore God's blessing and secure the spiritual future of her family. Her faith is truly tested when she is forced to choose between her daughters.

Written and directed by a former Jehovah's Witness, this film gives a true insight into a fundamentalist religion that seeks conformity in its devotees. Told through a collection of deeply personal prayers and charged set pieces, Apostasy examines religious identity and the paradox of being in, but not part of, this world. Apostasy is a feature for BBC Films and BFI.
